Sun sets on Hardland



When does the Wormwolf sleep? At night, like everyone else, and that is exactly when the reckless shooting most bothers him. It really is very dark out there and John would be in so much more trouble than he already is if he didn't bring a torch with him. Heck, all he needs now is a pitchfork!

Then again, it's probably best to stick to the ol' boomstick when it comes to getting rid of them Wormwolves.

  7. I know this post is showing us a night environment and the torch is nice and all, but whats the main message of the post? Really nice glow, maybe vision should be restricted to within the glow as a special map feature and radar does not have the option of being switched on. Assuming that light only goes around you... that is.

  15. ok disregarding the stupid minge, i am gessing that the map will now include a day and night cycle and night is when(if u fire off enough rounds) a wormwolf will come out along with those brave (or probably stupid) few furries attack?

  17. Maybe an extra button could be added for activate torch for a 180 degree melee in walking direction that lasts 1 swipe, good for pesky furries that intend to surround you up close

  18. zach: We haven't forgot about Hardgore but Minigore is definitely our main priority.

    Micer: Actually at night you need radar more than ever! :) I died 3 times on wormwolf before unlocking expert mode, mostly because wolfie doesn't have radar icon yet. In Episode 2 I can unlock insane mode with one life. Maybe the zombies can be radarless but if they are they need to be verrry slow :P

    Bubblemasta: A lot of work went into this update because we did some big changes that make adding future content much easier.

    For example: In order to do the torch we changed the animation system, basically it now allows John to hold any object in his left hand while he holds the gun in his other hand.

    I don't think we're gonna submit this week, early next week could be possible depending on how much stuff we want to still add...

    you can see that Mini Furry is actually a simple texture, it's not a type of 3D model like Furry and Giant furry (it doesn't have a realistic shape). Please!
    Also could you replace a texture of fire that can be seen on Mini Furry cause its color theme is different than the color theme on Beast-Furry-GiantFurry's fire.

  20. Ozzy: That's the only reason why we can draw so many minifurries on screen ;) Even one triangle more on the 3d model and it kills the framerate. Though the current version is not perfectly flat, it does have some curvature or "3d shape", 6 triangles to be exact. Pure 2d would be only two triangles and look even worse :)

    Small flame texture is fixed in latest version, it's now same color as the big flame. That torch in the screenshot uses the small flame - same texture as minifurries.

  22. Timmo: Yes I noticed that it's made of 3 four sided polygons (6 triangles), but thanks for explanation!
    Few more questions:
    1.Can we expect the biggest Furry (one with most teeth and with 2 sharp ones) from loading screen to appear in game?
    2.In leaked video we can see that the wormwolf's body is made of circles and when John shot in his body (don't talking about tail - the very last circle) other circles from target circle to the tail fell off the wormwolf, so what's the point of shooting in tail when you can shoot at the circle that's nearest to the head. I know it was still in beta, and you maybe changed that, but it would be more challenging if all other circles except the last one be invulnerable.
    3.I saw that game is done in portrait mode, it is landscape for the user/player, but when you double-click on home button and iPod player pops out it is shown in portrait mode and proof no. 2 when i replace Default.png with landscape version of it (or any other pic) it is narrowed
    so I need to rotate it for 90 deg CW to see it properly. Its not a bug but its weird to make landscape game in portrait mode and than rotate it. You could (should) replace the loading screen pic (Default.png) with landscape one.

OZZY that is the best stratagy for the wormwolf unforutnatly it doesn't always co-operate... aiming for the head however having the rest of the body vunerable is nice because it adds certain thign to the gameplay that makes it challenging the biggest furry is already in the game and get more and more visible at the higher levels say 8-10 is when you start seeing them

  26. Yea!, torch as a pickup, but i was thinking about something, if 1 hand is used for the gun, other for the torch, how does john wield a shotgun then? I think 2 hands are required, or option between SG and torch?

If that's so, when's the UK release date, since the third quarter has been and gone? I understand that it is hard meeting deadlines when developing any software, but if there's any definate date it might momentarily satisfy my cravingsfor more Hardland action!

  30. After being hit the first time, during the speed increase, ram into as many furries to at least make that hit count. You get invulnerability and beast-mode ram attack, until your speed boost stops, this happens on first hit only.

  31. Hardgore isn't released yet.. and it probably wont for awhile, but that's completely fine because they are focusing on bringing new content to Minigore (like Wormwolf who adds a lot of character to the game)

  36. It would be cool to use all advantages of iPhone/iPod in game. Using accelerometer to tilt the map and affect furries to slide in tilting direction will be very nice. John would also slide in that direction but you can control him and go in oposite direction, but with elements of physics of course, like when you walk in tilting direction you'll be faster, ad in oposite direction you'll be slower and similar.

  41. Does anyone else here feel like the shotgun is more of a downgrade than an upgrade? If I play on insane mode most of the time if I pick up a shotgun I die because the firefurries are fast and the shotguns reload rate is so slow kimmo can you amp it up a bit so it's not so useless?

    It now has the score exploit fix by making every furry turn flaming at night so you can't keep those slow regular furries alive anymore. There's small sound glitch when Jerry takes damage (you can hear John's voice) and some missing sound fx.

  46. Cheesz: It would look really good. Actually moving mouth has been on the to-do list for several months but it's a lot of work for such a small feature, especially with the introduction of another talking mouth in Jerry.

    We already get complaints for "style over substance" and focusing on that mainly visual feature wouldn't look good in the eyes of our critics ;)

    In the grand scheme of things our priority is getting you guys the co-op, new characters and other more tangible features.

    ...though I gotta say I personally as an artist care about small details like that so you'll probably see that feature some time next year :)

    Should change scheme of weapons, start out with a combat rifle or shot gun because neither is over powered and both simple, combat rifle - shoots medium paced but only 1 bullets at a time
    Shot Gun- slightly slower than it is now and same stuff besides that , and its double barreled so only 2 shots

    then you can get the SMG out of a box

    SMG-Strong,fast,and unnaccurate if you shoot for to long.

    or you can always start out with a pistol

    and add stats for John , Jerry and Evan that you can distribute but you start out with a certain # such as 3 and earn 1 each time you get 10000 , making each skill 5 pts max

    skills-
    Speed-make john faster ,slightly faster each point
    Strength-Shots it takes to kill furries
    Something else cant think of name-how many bullets john shoots with the gun , can add more it if it is like the shot gun
    velocity-if bullets penetrate them and hurt more furries

    limit of 10 skill points you can earn so it will be fair when you get a high score so you can`t max everything out

    First, nobody should be asking mountain sheep to give cash for ideas, because if that is so, i would like to comment (please take no offense from this) that half your ideas have already been discussed about.

    Personally i think rpg elements should not belong to minigore, otherwise it kinda loses its 'pickup and play' characteristic of immediately joining in the fight.

    For your skills in previous blog post (Update Available) comments, Austin Elliohow and myself have had a short conversation of sorts. Skills would be better as pickups instead of a experiential thing.

  53. I think the day/night feature, you dont have much of a choice, since later in the game wormwolf is coming out anyway, night time will come sooner or later

    My personal thoughts are that not every feature should be toggled, otherwise minigore becomes a 50% customisable game, where you can chose to completely strip off all its features down to its basic form in version 1.0, although this might please alot of people since they can decide what kind of game they want. A problem will is associated with customisation is online leaderboards, a new leadearboard must be made for every different toggle. To further explain this

    Each of these combinations are different, with the exception of radar, customisable features may create problems. But this is just a thought

  55. I just had another suggestion! Since everything is going to turn flamey at night, then there should be a little mini clock in the top of the screen next to the pause sign. If there was, then we could be warned ahead of time because we're like, "OMG! THE FURRIES ARE CLOSING IN!" then 2 seconds later, "OMG! THEY'RE ON FIRE NOW! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!" And I'll die.

I have had an idea (probably unrealistic but thought I'd share it anyway) I'v just been playing Eliminatepro and as nice as it is it just doesn't play that well on an iPhone Coz the controls are too complicated (you need a controller). That got me thinking. What if the guys at mountain sheep developed a first person online shooter (involving minigore characters) with the controls and game speed of the new iPhone game doom classic. This would work soo well on the iPhone as all you would do is run round a map at speed tryin to shoot eachother and avoid other peoples bullets. Simple but effective like minigore and what I imagine to be alot fast pased fun. You need to have played doom classic to understand what I'm talking about.

  59. @micer yes if the day/night feature was toggle able it would effect leader boards but If it's not it would be pretty hard to see the night if it was day in real life right? Maybe it could turn off the scoring feature if you toggle it off..

    Also if minigore was a first person shooter it would make it hard to pick up and play and take away the simplicity of the game

  60. Yea i agree about the real day time thing, some of my apps that are quite dark toned get hard to see out in the sun, will have to increase brightness, but its a real battery drainer. Mountainsheep will find a way, they always do

    also the talk of seperate scorebords is kinda pointless, just create an endless mode that will be used for high scores, where you just fight mobs of furries and u can choose bt starting difficulties, and make a campagne mode that isnt counted on high scpres and is the day and night with wormwolf (wormy) and acts as a base for future level additions

Don't get me wrong, I LOVE minigore and it's my favorite ipod touch game, but still, it would be nice to have something like hardgore. BTW: Wasn't minigore ment to be a demo of sorts, where it would showcase the features of hardgore, just to get us excited for the future release of hardgore?

  76. i like the score multiplyier, but it should be like his, 33% bonus for having one, 66% bonus for two and 100% bonus when u minotar, this would make starting gameplay go a little faster cas the furries dont rly charge till at least 1500 points and to get there takes like 20 minutes with each being like 10-20 pts per lil kill

  77. In my opinion Mountain Sheep aren`t that good at being developers,good example of a group of devs would be the guys that make Killaton or Kill-a-ton
    They update frequently,good updates,and its a fun game and they changed it drastically in 2 updates,mountain sheep takes forever for the smallest of updates and their not really that good,Minigore has potential but at the rate their doing things meh

    secondly the reasons for slow updates were: 1.apple rejected them...more than once 2.the screen flip glitch which over 70 beta testers didn't notice

    and finally already minigore is a SPECTACULAR game already if they didn't udate it from here on out I would be satisfied but updates are just a bonus...

Mine is 10428, would have gotten higher, if only my bus trips were longer, usually score better when under pressure in a bid for looking good, due to loads of people having 'lower-grade' phones/ipods staring at me playing, not that i despise them its just, if i were them, id be wishing i had a game of that quality on my phone.

  120. lol so true I have the last gens iPhone and the last gens iPod touch and honestly they really aren't that different than the newer ones if someone gave me a 3gs for free I probably wouldn't take it because I'd lose all my game data and in turn,kill myself....

Epic episode 3 may be (wouldn't know as i'm not a beta tester). but i personally would prefer frequent updates with few changes than having to w8 for a long time for one massive one (i'm assuming its big). just knowing it will take at least two weeks for approval and it hasn't been submitted yet is kind of a drag.
    not that i'm having a go or anything coz i know the guys at mountainsheep are probly working ther ass of and i appreciate it.
    it was just a suggestion for future updates

  126. Well in December it takes FOREVER for an app to get approved because so many apps are submitted at the end of the year if they don't submit it this month we won't see it till around 2010

    small updates would be great the furry sense was a small udate (or was it clover sense?)
